Coaches

Kate Ruiz: YOUTH Director/YOUTH Head Coach

Hi everyone! My name is Kate Ruiz, and I’m excited to be the Youth Director/Head Coach for the youth team this season. I’ve been playing lacrosse for over 10 years and was a goalie at UCLA, where I was part of a national championship team and winner of the tournament MVP award two years running. Throughout my lacrosse career, I’ve loved teaching and coaching youth players and working with athletes of all experience levels—we were all new to the game once, and it’s truly my passion to help others learn to love lacrosse. At the same time, I’m equally excited to foster the skills of players who already have experience so they can keep growing, building confidence, and reaching their full potential. I recently moved back to the Austin area for work and can’t wait to get started with the team and make this a fun, positive, and rewarding season for everyone!

Along with coaching at Vandegrift, Cailey also currently coaches for the Grit club team.

Off the field, she works as a Digital Forensic Analyst at KLDiscovery.
Lacrosse has given her some of her favorite memories, and she strives to create
a positive and fun environment for her players.
